Social Media Tools

Image result for social media

I am a user of many social media sites including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter. Although many of my social media apps are more for personal sharing, I also have ones that I use for school and work such as LinkedIn, BAND and Edmodo. All of these social media tools help me create a fast and effective atmosphere to communicate with my friends, family, students and co-workers.. Although I have many efficient social media tools, there are two that I would really like to use more, especially when I start to work in my field of study, social work. These include Easel.ly and Blogmeter.

Easely.ly is a social media tool used to create and share ideas visually online. This tool caught my eye because of how well organized, but interesting it is. I feel as if I can use it to brighten my notes and presentations while also keeping them professional.

The website takes ideas that have been typed out on templates such as microsoft word or powerpoint and makes them into an easy to read diagram. This changes the viewing of the notes to be visually pleasing as well as easier to read because of how organized it is while using infographics. With easel.ly you can also include pictures to make your notes more organized as well. Aside from making your notes easier for you and your co-workers to read, this tool also helps increase the visualization of your presentations, allows more people to share and view your content and helps your co-workers and other viewers understand your points better.

I can keep my notes organized when preparing for tests or classes in general as well as creating more organized presentations. When it comes to my future career as a social worker, I plan to use this tool to present notes to my team as well as presentations. This tool will also allow me to share my presentations with co-workers outside of my office and expand my communication with co-workers and students as well.

The second social media tool I would like to use more is Oktopost. This tool is an organized website that allows a company to enhance their media sharing, share data, enhance employee advocacy and promote all aspects of a company. Through this site, the user can also find agencies to work with and use them to promote any aspect of their company. You can publish information, listen to others information, analyze your media reports as well as manage global teams.

While I may not use this social media tool while in college, I can see my team using it at some point in my career. Sharing information and collecting data on team projects such as how many children have been placed in foster homes in the last month. This tool is organized in a way that anyone can understand the options that it offers and how to use them. I would like to use this tool to enhance the data of my work and communicate with other social work cases and the data they hold as well.

Through both of these social media tools I can see myself further educating myself throughout my college education as well as when I start working as a social worker. I hope to enhance my knowledge on both these tools as I use them and encourage others to use them as well. Botb Easel.ly and Oktopost can enhance any company's performance and should be more common within our social media tool knowledge.

Web 2.0 Tool Smackdown

The tool I chose for my Web 2.0 Tool Smackdown is Skype. Skype is a common app that can be downloaded on a computer, tablet or mobile device. While Skype is most often used for communication through our camera to see long distant friends or family members, it has also come to be useful for job interviews, meetings or conference calls. This app comes in handy when co-workers are located far away and when potential employees do not currently live in the said area of the job hiring. This app can save time and money when it comes to all of these uses.

Another great part of this app is that you can have it on every electronic device and it is free unless you want to upgrade to a plan! Skype features unique plans such as texting, calling, conference calling as well as video chatting. Skype can cut the costs of business costs when used to communicate with several team members at once. It can also cut the spending of travel between family members. Often times family members can call one another and video chat rather than travel frequently for a high cost. Skype also enhances business communication, continuing communication without cost or interruption outside the office.
