Web 2.0 Tool Smackdown

The tool I chose for my Web 2.0 Tool Smackdown is Skype. Skype is a common app that can be downloaded on a computer, tablet or mobile device. While Skype is most often used for communication through our camera to see long distant friends or family members, it has also come to be useful for job interviews, meetings or conference calls. This app comes in handy when co-workers are located far away and when potential employees do not currently live in the said area of the job hiring. This app can save time and money when it comes to all of these uses.

Another great part of this app is that you can have it on every electronic device and it is free unless you want to upgrade to a plan! Skype features unique plans such as texting, calling, conference calling as well as video chatting. Skype can cut the costs of business costs when used to communicate with several team members at once. It can also cut the spending of travel between family members. Often times family members can call one another and video chat rather than travel frequently for a high cost. Skype also enhances business communication, continuing communication without cost or interruption outside the office.

  1. Hello Kimberly,
I have used Skype many times before. Although I am familiar with Skype, I have not used it in a long time. I feel as if Skype is becoming obsolete with so many other networking and communication tools. Would you agree? There are so many different communication and collaboration tools out, and I never know which to use; Skype is the tried and true and I will always favorite it as a communication tool.

  2. Hi Kimberly!
Skype is a great tool for communication. I have used this tool before so I know how convenient it can be especially if you want to interact with someone who lives in a different country. I used Skype to communicate with my family who lives in India. This too was extremely beneficial for me. Thank you for presenting on this tool.
