Everyday, millions of people research information on the internet using a variety of websites. At this point in our social media era, there is a website for just about everything and anything! Although many websites eventually give us the answer we want whether that is in regards to furniture, movies. clothes or whatever the case might be, these websites are not always designed in the best way.
For example, say you are shopping for furniture. I have chosen two websites that offer a variety of different items and a wide range of costs. While both websites provide a lot of variety, one is not as well put together as the other. Wayfair provides an easy to use search bar that allows the customer to search exactly what they are looking for. Wayfair also provides a good concept of moderation in the design of the website, allowing the customer to browse without too many pop ups or crowded items on the screen. The dominant striking colors of this website also allow the user to find easy categorized items, while also keeping a classic and organized look.

Wayfair really promotes a general, yet detailed approach to online furniture/home shopping. Flexshopper on the other hand, does not. Flexshopper is flooded with ads, overflowing tabs and space, as well as poor navigation. This website first opens up as a furniture website, but once open leads to electronics, appliances and other items that do not necessarily fall under the furniture category. The lack of organization can leave the shopper confused and overwhelmed, leading them to buy from another furniture site.
Below you will find a deeper understanding of why these two websites vary in the greatness, or lack there of.

Hi Kim, I really enjoyed your smackdown on Wayfair and FlexShopper. I have never used either of these sites though I have heard many good reviews of Wayfair from friends and family and your smackdown makes me more inclined to utilize Wayfair! I agree with you that FlexShopper is too overwhelming, especially if I was to go to that site looking for furniture I think all of the distractions of the other shopping items would be overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteHello, Kim, I like your presentation. You are right that a good website needs a focus for their customers. I agree with you that Wayfair is a pretty good furniture shopping website. A good organization is also important to help customers to find what they need easier. One thing I don't like about FlexShopper is their demonstration pictures. FlexShopper lists everything on the home page which is boring to me. So, good analysis, and thank you for introducing a good online shopping website!
